  1. State Department Foreign Service Medical Provider
    The U.S. Department of State is currently accepting applications for Foreign Service Medical Provider positions.
    Duties: Provide primary and preventive medical care to U.S. diplomats and their families, supervise staff, direct health unit operations, and engage with foreign audiences which helps to promote peace and prosperity around the world.
    Medical Providers spend about 80 percent of their careers abroad, generally in austere or remote countries and relocate every 2-4 years.
    Benefits: access to continued medical training and career development programs; health and medical coverage; federal retirement benefits; and generous paid leave. When serving overseas, receive paid housing or an appropriate housing allowance, and paid education for dependent children K through 12.
    Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 20 years old to apply and at least 21 years old to be appointed. By law, all career candidates must be appointed to the Foreign Service prior to the month in which they reach age 60, except for preference eligible veterans. Applicants must also be available for worldwide service, and be able to obtain all required security, medical and suitability clearances.

  8. Psychiatry PA Residency

    The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center/Baylor College of Medicine PA Residency in Psychiatry/Mental Health is one year in length and provides about 500 hours of didactic and 2000 hours of clinical training in psychiatry. Residents train alongside their physician counterparts and take the same didactic classes and lectures as the physician residents.

    Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCCPA CAQ in Psychiatry, which makes them very valuable clinicians in the field of Mental Health, which has a need for well-trained and qualified providers exceeding the current number of jobs available.

    As of August 2017, the stipend is $83,922, for the year-long residency, which is extremely competitive for the training offered.
