National Physician Assistant Week 6-12 October We hope you will join us as we celebrate the Navy's more than 300 active duty PAs, and America's more than 100,000 clinically practicing civillian PAs during PA Week. Please help your local command celebrate this week and raise awareness of how important our PAs are to Navy Medicine. The American Academy of Physician Assistants has provided some useful materials for celebrations, posters, patient handouts, etc. The press release material could be utilized to socialize PA Week at your command. Vice Adm. Matthew L. Nathan, U.S. Navy surgeon general, and chief, U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, recently posted the following birthday message to the Medical Service Corps. On behalf of Navy Medicine and a grateful nation, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Medical Service Corps (MSC) as they celebrate 67 years of faithful and dedicated service. In recognition of the corps' anniversary, I wanted to share some stories about my relationship with the MSC. I'm not sure many people know this, but I am an honorary ensign in the MSC. I was given that distinction by the former Medical Service Corps Chief and Deputy Surgeon General, Rear Adm. Michael Mittelman. You might be asking why I deserve this title.
