Welcome

NAPA President’s Message

Dear Members and Colleagues,

Assuming the role of President of the Naval Society of Physician Associates for 2025–2026 is both an honor and a privilege. I am humbled by this opportunity and committed to leading our organization as we chart the course for the future of our profession and enhance collaboration with fellow service organizations. I wish to extend my gratitude to CAPT Carl Long for his enduring dedication and passion for our community, and to LT Nicholas Evans, whose leadership has paved the way with effective and forward-thinking change.

The Naval Society of Physician Associates (NSPA) serves as a forum for Naval-associated PAs to connect, share knowledge, and pursue meaningful continuing education. Our strength as an organization has always come from the dedication of our members and the sense of community we foster together. As we look ahead, it is essential that we continue to collaborate not only within our own society, but also with our fellow service branch associations. By working together, we can strengthen our profession, prepare for the challenges that lie ahead, and ensure the continued growth and advancement of Naval PAs.

I am honored to serve as your president and to lead this organization alongside the collective efforts of our dedicated members. Together, we will continue advancing NSPA while implementing important changes to strengthen our society and its impact.

My priorities in leadership for the coming year include:

  • Reorganizing NAPA into the Naval Society of Physician Associates to better reflect our identity and mission.
  • Continuing the renovation and modernization of NSPA’s website and social media platforms to improve communication and connection across our community, including:
    • Creating opportunities to identify and connect with mentors across the fleet.
    • Highlighting community efforts to strengthen our organization’s effectiveness.
    • Providing timely updates on board of directors’ discussions and future plans.
  • Delivering valuable CME opportunities to all NSPA members.
  • Aligning our annual conference with the Army Society of Physician Associates to expand collaboration and professional growth.

Effecting change is not always easy, but with the combined efforts of our board of directors and the active participation of our members, I am confident that NSPA will continue to thrive. I encourage each of you to take part, lend your voice, and help shape the future of our organization.

I look forward to working alongside you in the year ahead and to celebrating the successes we achieve together.

Very Respectfully,
LT Luigi (Wilt) Chemell, DMSc, PA-C
2025-2026 NSPA President
